THE PROPERTY

Founded in 1987 by Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau, Le Cru des Pensées is harvested from the sandy-gravelly clay soils of the Lafleur vineyard. Le Cru des Pensées combines delicacy and complexity, revealing a different expression of the Lafleur vineyard. Until the 2000 harvest, the selection was mainly based on the age of the vines. Thus, from the 1988 vintage to the 1999 vintage, Les Pensées de Lafleur were mostly made from young vines harvested during the first pass. Starting from the 2000 vintage, the family evolved the selection of Les Pensées de Lafleur by now considering the nature of the soils. With the assistance of Baptiste and Julie, they gradually delineated the specific parcels for Les Pensées.

From being a second wine, Les Pensées de Lafleur have become, over the course of thirty years, a distinct Cru. They are now simply called Les Pensées and are among the great Pomerols of the plateau.
