THE PROPERTY

The wines of Château Cazebonne are off the beaten track. Bought in 2016 by Jean-Baptiste Duquesne, entrepreneur and wine enthusiast, this 40-hectare estate near Langon south of Bordeaux is managed by the brilliant oenologist David Poutays. The conversion to biodynamics was accompanied by the replanting of 25 forgotten Bordeaux grape varieties, in order to rediscover the original expression of the terroir on the estate’s sands, silts, deep gravel and clay-limestone soils. “This cuvée was harvested by hand with Sauvignons harvested from our Peyron gravel and old Sémillon, Sauvignon and Sauvignon Gris from our Bouché plateau. The whole was fermented and aged in oak barrels in from 4 coopers, for 11 months. We chose to age this wine in 500-litre barrels, gently toasted. The idea was to enhance the fruit, preserve the freshness, without marking the wine with woody notes. , roasted. The result lives up to our expectations: a bottle full of charm, suave, complex, which improves with aeration.
