THE PROPERTY

Château Gazin was acquired by Louis Soualle, great-grandfather of the current owners, at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, the 5th generation is at the head of Château Gazin with Nicolas and Christophe de Bailliencourt dit Courcol. On the Pomerol terroir, Château Gazin is present on 26 hectares near the Gospel and Petrus. It is one of Pomerol’s most prestigious and vast crus. Gazin, which was a village in the 18th century, is probably located on the site of the Hospital de Pomeyrols, built by the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta to welcome pilgrims on the way to St Jacques de Compostelle. The Maltese cross that appears on the estate’s bottles thus evokes the glorious past of the property.

WINE

The wine gives off a pretty bouquet of violets and raspberries. The fruit is bright with a magnificent aromatic depth.
Cedar, chocolate, blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice harmonize in the mouth on your present and silky tannins. Ideal on a duck breast or a rib of beef cooked on the vine shoots of Pomerol!
