Château d’Arcole 2016
Historic property of Saint-Emilion with five hectares of vines. Organic farming since 1960 and certified biodynamic in 2012.
Cultivated in organic farming since the 1960s, it is the oldest vineyard in Saint-Emilion committed to an environmental approach. In pristine and unique floor, it focuses on a single plot around his castle. The property guarantees the quality and consistency of its approach through the official abbreviation AB. No weedkillers or pesticides are used. The soil is completely worked by light plowing to control the growth of the grass. Only natural products are used to protect the vineyard. Disbudding, leaf stripping, green harvesting: these wine-growing techniques limit yield, aerate the clusters and thus promote the vines’ natural defenses against disease.
Château d´Arcole has a deep purple color. The nose is characterized by very intense red fruit aromas (blackcurrant, blackberry), with toasted and roasted notes. The palate is suave, ample, charming. Fine and elegant, it is appreciated young on the fruit but its structured body allows it to age for a few years in the cellar. The 2016 vintage is made from a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet-Sauvignon.
