Les Quatres Pilliers « Pinot Noir » 2020 – Tourraine

THE PROPERTY
The 10 ha vineyard is located in the heart of the AOC Touraine valley. It is split into 25 plots (the largest reaches barely more than one hectare) which are veritable small gardens converted to organic as soon as it is taken over. On these places grow Sauvignon Blanc (half), Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Côt (Malbec) on predominantly clay-limestone soils.

The Cher never strays more than a kilometer from the vines. It contributes to the circulation of hot air currents which cleanse the vineyard and reinforces the oceanic influence coming from the west and the Loire. Beneath the entire surface of the vineyard, there is a white paradise: gigantic quarries of immaculate tufa, dug 30 m underground, encourage mineral exchange and pierce the vineyard of the Four Pillars with ventilation shafts.

Son of a winegrower from Touraine, originally from the Cher valley, Valentin Desloges, 28, trained with inspiring winegrowers: Vincent Sipp in Alsace, the Todeschini family at Château Mangot in Saint-Émilion, Thierry and Paul Pillot in Chassagne -Montrachet and Raphaël Coche at Coche-Dury in Meursault. Mentors from various terroirs, who allowed him to understand the work in the vineyard as well as in the cellar.

Today Valentin is at the head of the Domaine des Quatre Piliers. Passionate and ultra-meticulous, Valentin makes local wines, precise and fine while being imbued with generosity.
