THE ESTATE

Guillaume and Aude Lavollée have taken over the reins of the family estate, covering 22 hectares located in Meursault. Domaine Génot Boulanger stretches from the Côte Chalonnaise to the Côte de Nuits, encompassing appellations like Chambolle Musigny and Clos Vougeot, as well as the Côte de Beaune with its exceptional white wines from Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. In 2018, they completed a significant effort to elevate the quality and, most importantly, the precision of the wines, obtaining organic certification. It’s a domain where the precision and refinement of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir shine through in every cuvée.

All cuvées have been certified organic since the 2018 vintage.

THE WINE

The plot, entirely planted with Pinot Noir, was established in 1986 and covers 0.43 hectares.

The vineyard features a shallow brown soil on limestone and clay pebble deposits dating back to the Jurassic era (175 million years ago). Our plot is part of the locality known as “Les Boudes Basses.” The rows, spanning 150 meters in length, traverse at least three different types of soils, with more clayey soil at the lower end and rockier terrain towards the upper part.

The bouquet is remarkably complex but still youthful at this stage, ranging from blackcurrant buds to a field of poppies, raspberry bushes, and extending to star anise and licorice—an aromatic profile with great promise. The palate is full, very silky, with delicate energy and harmony, almost tender. This is a profound and wise grand cru, not seeking to impress but exuding assured refinement and a lingering elegance that imparts patience.
